Archie Grimmett Jr. Was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He attend Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, and Emmaus Bible College. He also studied in the areas of Sociology, Psychology, computer science, public administration, and clerical work. After serving 20 years and 3 days in the U.S. Army, he retired in August 1983.
Supt. Grimmett was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1975 at Mount Calvary cathedral while stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. He accepted his call to ministry in 1976 at first ever revival, held at Fort Campbell by the Church Of God In Christ. The Evangelist was
Mother Fannie Page and Missionary Reed of the Central Jurisdiction of Tennessee. Under the tutelage of Elder Sam Gaskins and Elder Daniel Watford, Brother Grimmett served in the ministry at he Gospel Service at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In March of 1978, Brother Grimmett was transferred to Fort Greely,
Alaska. The Lord blessed him to start a church on the post and then move outside of the post of the town of Delta Junction, The church was named New Jerusalem Church Of God In Christ under the direction of the Holy Ghost. Brother Grimmett was appointed the Pastor and given his minister license by the Jurisdictional Prelate of Alaska,
Bishop C.D. Williams. He was placed under the supervision of Elder Otis McCormick assistant pastor of the Lily of The Valley in Fairbanks, Alaska. Some 106 miles north of Delta Junction. The church grew; souls were saved, and filled with the Holy Ghost. Satan got busy and Minister Grimmett was transferred back to Fort Campbell after spending 16 months of what was supposed to have been a 3 year tour in Alaska. After returning to Kentucky area in June 1979,
Minister Grimmett was led by the Lord to unite with Powerhouse COGIC located on main Street in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he served as a an associate minister under Elder Jesse Gold, Ministry Grimmett was later ordained by the late Bishop E.H. Ware. Prelate of Kentucky 2nd Jurisdiction, and served as an assistant pastor of Powerhouse cogic in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In 1984, at the Kentucky 2nd Convocation, Elder Grimmett was appointed pastor of Pentecostal COGIC in Greenville, Kentucky.
He was appointed State Secretary in 1985 by the late Bishop M. J. Sykes and has retained that position since the original appointment. The Interim Bishop H. Bell Sr. appointed Elder Grimmett Superintendent in 1994. Superintendent and Sister Grimmett will celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary on Oct 16. 2022, if the delays his coming.
